Get Involved

Since Photovoice SG’s inception in 2012, our work in bringing participatory photography experiences to fringe communities in Singapore was made possible only with support from our volunteers and partners. If you would like to be part of our journey, here are a few ways to get involved.

Photovoice SG engages a diverse group of volunteers for our projects in the following roles:

  • Mentor Photographers: To teach and inspire participants in ways of seeing, and accompany them on their personal photographic journeys. We look to involve photographers who specialise in different photography genres – please help us by specifying what kind of genres you are comfortable with.
  • Project Facilitators: To assist mainly with the log-keeping of cameras, befriending participants and helping to document the project through writing or visual/audio media.

If you believe or want to experience how taking pictures can make a difference in someone’s life, we invite you to register your interest with us and we will keep you up to date with details of latest projects that you can get involved in.

Photovoice SG seeks to work with public and private organisations, civil society groups, voluntary welfare organisations and social research bodies in reaching out to fringe communities through participatory photography. Such communities may include children and youth-at-risk, ex-criminal offenders, persons with special needs (eg; HIV/AIDs, Alzheimer’s Disease, visual impairment, mental health disorders etc.), senior citizens, new immigrants and so forth.

There are two ways to partner with Photovoice SG:

  • Be our community partner: We offer Photovoice consultancy and design services for your community group, from running participatory photography workshops to staging exhibitions.
  • Learn how to start your own participatory workshop: Through a comprehensive training program using the Photovoice methodology, we hope to equip more people and organisations with the skills to lead their own participatory workshops.

If you think your community and/or organisation could benefit from the above, we would love to explore how we can customise a Photovoice workshop for your community. Click here to get in touch.

  • Sponsor a workshop: Workshop sponsorship may cover the cost of venue rental, print material, refreshments and volunteer expenses.
  • Sponsor an exhibition venue: In order to drive awareness for the projects, we often work with various venues to exhibit the works as the projects come to a close. Previous venues include the National Library, *SCAPE, Artistry Cafe and the National Museum of Singapore.

If you are keen to provide sponsorship in these areas or in other ways, we would be happy to discuss the possibilities. Click here to get in touch..
